Everyone else is doing it, so why can't I? (Cranberries much?)

Let's Be Real

Unfortunately, I just don't have the time to do this right now.  I can barely do the dishes and the laundry, much less paint, take pictures, post, and blog about my nails.

Insert tears here...

So, so long for now...hopefully I'll be back in a few months when the baby is older.

Funky French Fail

Hi Everyone:

I hope that you are getting excited about the holidays.  I'm a scrooge, so I don't really love the holiday season as most people do.  But that is beside the point.  Maybe my attitude will perk up soon.

I really enjoy the work that Erika does over at Chloe's Nails.  If you haven't checked out her site, she is very talented.  She has not posted anything since April...I hope everything is alright in her neck of the woods.  Anyway, she is really good at the "Funky French."  I thought I would give it a try.

I failed...awful, terrible failed.

It started out so pretty.  I used two coats of Essie Mademoiselle, two coats of Essence Color and Go in Space Queen.  I'm a sucker for any type of glitter and the two pinks meshed very well together.

Once those dried, I applied Sinful Colors Black on Black on the tips for the official "Funky French" look.

 I don't have a thumb...just kidding.

As you can see here, my lines aren't very straight.  It actually looks better in the pictures than it does on my nail...which is not saying much.

These are the two polishes I used for the base.  I'm a big Essie user.  I like the trendy and classic colors that I can purchase at the drugstore.

I don't know if you can tell, but these are not my natural nails.  I'll post about that soon.

I like the concept, but I'll stick with the basic white tip for this color combo next time.

Have a great evening!
Whitney

PS - Random Nail Tip of the Day - SV stands for Seche Vite.  I purchase mine at Sally's Beauty but you can get it at Target, Amazon.com, and many other stores.  It is a very think top coat that tames most glitters and leaves a healthy shine.  Lots of bloggers use SV for their top coat.  Some bloggers complain that the use of SV makes their polish "shrink" on the nail.  I was not too sure what this meant, but after using it on an indie polish, I understand.  I will elaborate on the shrinkage when I get around to posting on that indie polish.

Welcome!

Hi Everyone!  I have no followers, but this is more for me right now.  I love other people's nail blogs and I sometimes post my nail pictures on my other blog, Adventures of a Navy Wife.  I feel that my nail habit does not mesh too well with my family/life blog, so I decided to create Navy Nails.  I didn't want to stray too far from the name of my other blog and Navy Nails rhymes, so why not?

My husband, Dr. Tom, is a Navy doc and we have been traveling (aka moving) and we haven't been able to really settle down for the past couple of years.  Aside from being a Navy wife, I am also a mom to two small children.  Harper is two and Mason is a newbie, born this past August.

I would really love for nail polish companies to send me their products for review.  I doubt that will happen, but if I could have a couple of kickbacks instead of funding my own polish habit, that would be great!

I just got some great nail mail the other day from KBShimmer.  I ordered just before the latest Winter 2012 collection was released.  I hope to place another order with them soon so that I can get my hands on Snow Way and Hex Appeal.  I also liked All Decked Out, but I know that I won't wear it as much as the others.

Check out KBShimmer's homepage at: http://kbshimmer.com/default.htm

Her Etsy Link is here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/KBShimmer

Also, a random nail blog fact: NOTD stands for Nail of the Day.  I was very confused as to what that stood for when I started following nail blogs.

Have a great night!
